ArcMAP Geology from TNRIS

So I finally got the DVD from TNRIS. It’s got the GAT (Geologic Atlas of Texas) in both raster and vector format. I opened the MDB file in ArcMap and it’s huge. It’s got all of Texas in one geo-database and weighs in at almost 1 GB, which – even on my fairly new computer – makes things really slow. Somehow I need to figure out how to split this huge file up into smaller ones that show only the extent of the original sheets, such as the Dallas sheet. Surely, there is a way. What’s exciting is that the resolution of the vector data is so much better than the freebie files I downloaded from USGS a while ago. This will great fun to use. Very exciting.
