WHERE2.0 conference

At the Where 2.0 conference this week, ESRI, the makers of ArcGIS and related products, and Google, the makers of, well, all things google, have announced future collaboration plans when it comes to online availability for geographic data…  This is a big deal. ESRI is a big player in the commercial GIS world. Google is sortof becoming one in the open-source world, and the obvious thing to do for 2 big players i sto play with each other. Personally, I’m excited reading news like this. I’m trying to learn about using GIS at work, and I love google. Makes me think that if google’s on board the future for online/internet GIS should be bright and sunny !!
