David Foster Wallace

David Foster Wallace died by suicide on Friday.

I felt bad because I knew the name but nothing else about the guy, and it sucks having to find out about “contemporary” people only after they are dead. Anyway, I googled a little to make up for my ignorance, and I found this commencement speech Wallace delivered at  Kenyon University. It’s well worth reading for a little Monday afternoon real-world philosophy. It makes me want to read some of his writing.
