Who should spend taxpayer money…

I rarely agree with George Will (Washington Post) – make that never. But he’s got an interesting column here about the constitutional powers when it comes to spending taxpayer money. It reminds me of some of what I’ve been reading in Al Gore’s Assault on Reason where he talks about checks and balances and transparency of the government.

As a sidenote, I also enjoyed Will’s syndicated column “John McCain Loses His Head” wondering whether the man’s temperament lends itself to being President. Thank you for pointing out (via links A & B) how the McCain campaign navigates the loopholes in the McCain-Feingold Campaign finance reform. Sounds a lot like Bush signing laws amd the signing statements saying the laws don’t apply to him.
